Are you ready to get extreme?!? This '90s cartoon is hilariously-dated, has a ridiculous premise and is chock full of silly moments. I mention all of this because the show has been on Streaming for a long time and is oddly-addictive. I even managed to make one of my friends into an addict to boot! It's hard to even explain the show's premise with a straight face. Fortunately, this is all text, so you'll have no way of telling if I'm laughing or not. If you want to find out why this film qualifies for the Streaming Standard (see the first induction for the explanation, latecomers), read on...
Bear with me now, as I must restrain myself from a sarcastic 'No, really' throughout this entire thing.
An inter-dimensional criminal shows up on Earth during the Age of Dinosaurs and forcibly-evolves them to make an army. The first four turn against him- within seconds, mind you- so he makes three Raptors into his second batch. A really silly thing happens- I won't SPOIL it- the Age of Dinosaurs ends abruptly, with all 7 Dinosaurs being preserved for millions- or thousands, if you live in the South- of years and awaken in the present day.
With 52 Episodes, the series is chock full of crazy moments. I'll give you a few highlights- Bullzeye hooks up a Virtual Reality helmet to surf the Internet...
The Loch Ness Monster shows up, taking time away from meeting Godzilla (more on that later) and Doctor Who.
Lastly, the Extreme Dinosaurs end up on the Moon. Bear in mind that these are highlights from only three episodes...and there are 52. This show sells itself!
I love this ridiculous crap! This show is amazingly-goofy- plain and simple. The Dinosaurs and their origins are explained in the first episode, but it still doesn't make a lick of sense. How does any of this futuristic pseudo-science work? The key is this- it's not supposed to. If you look at this show with an adult's perspective, it will make your brain hurt. If you look at it like a kid, it's much different. Try it for a second- 'Dinosaurs with guns that ride flying cars- awesome!' Fun, huh? I love stuff like this for all the reasons that normal people don't and, quite frankly, shouldn't. This show is a joy to behold in its silliness and is chock full of '90s moments. Do yourself a favor and laugh at a show that you either watched as a kid or really wish that you could have. Do your best to ignore the lazy background art though...
Next up, while this segment is not only about cartoons, I do have one more to cover. It's a show you've never heard of featuring some superheroes you've never heard of. Stay tuned...
