There are certain characters in films that fill certain roles. Some characters are heroes. Some characters are villains. Other characters are just there to be inspiring, which will make their deaths more meaningful. This one is the latter...
The Coach from Futuresport is not a major character per se. He shows up to give Cain advice- like getting his head out of his ass- but that's about it.
When Cain sets up the important game to determine who owns Hawaii- sorry, but that still makes me laugh-, the Coach comes on board. I can't see where this is going, can you?
Sure enough, the Coach is killed by, um, a spider-robot thing. I don't know- just go with it.
To be fair, this death is not entirely-pointless for the plot. It drives Snipes to turn against the bad guys. Him working with them in the first place was just stupid, so all this does is fix a stupid thing.
Next up, another animal joins the Poor Bastards of Cinema ranks. Will this kitty's death have a point? Stay tuned...
