I went to work one day and discovered that the Hollywood Video store at the front of the complex was closing. Because of this, they were selling all of their older stock. This should be fun.
As of this writing date, I have picked up 9 DVDs for roughly $50. They are...
* Shadow of the Vampire
* Black Sheep (2007)
* Flash Gordon (1980)
* Beowulf (1999)
* Game Over (2003)
* Invaders from Mars (1986)
* She-Creature (2001)
* Tokyo Gore Police
* The Immortal (2000)
I'll probably get more when they drop the price from them even more. There are also a couple of Fun Facts for you.
-They had FOUR copies of retroGRADE on their shelves. That's sad.
- They have SIX copies of the recent film Mirrors. That's even sadder.
- There are a ton of Asylum films on their shelf, including When A Killer Calls and Mega-Shark vs. Giant Octopus. I hope they stay there!
- Lastly, they have a boatload of Full Moon releases as well. There's one double feature that astounded me though- Trancers/Trancers 6! Where's the logic in that?!? Not Trancers/Trancers 2 or Trancers IV/Trancers V? What?!?
If and when I get more of them, I'll let you know. Stay tuned...
I spent waaaay too much money at the one closing down the street from my office last week. And I'm going to be spending waaay too much money tonight as well. I picked up a bunch of Full Moon releases last visit, I hope to pick up a bunch more. I'll have fodder for my Charles Band blog until the end of the world in 2012! :D
ReplyDeleteOh, and I suspect that Trancer double-feature might have something to do with Paramount Pictures controlling some of the rights to the other Trancer films until a few years ago. (Dunno know for sure, though.)
I can certainly relate. There's still more stuff I want to get when it gets to about $3 or $4 dollars. They still have 'The Fly/The Fly 2,' 'Lifeforce,' 'Near Dark' and 'I'm Gonna Git You, Sucka.'
ReplyDeleteDo I need them? No.
