As a quick break from Horror-themed Posters, I'd like to highlight how we in the United States can sometimes market a Film in a very odd way.
In 1985, Jackie Chan had a bit of a breakout. Having been in both Cannonball Run Films, he was given a Starring turn that year.
For the most common Poster, they made him, well, Bruce Lee...
Far be it from me to comment on physiques, but, well, that is not Jackie Chan there. That's just Bruce Lee, but with a gun and a close approximation of Chan's face.
Was he not good enough?
On later releases, they pick a real picture, but...well, the most out-of-context one...
The French Poster is not much better. They really exaggerate everything, making this look more like Super Fuzz...
Just for comparison, here's a different DVD Cover with a more accurate representation...
That was a lot of strange stuff, no?
Sometimes simple is better.
