After all this time, I should probably lock up and talk about this...
In the wild Decade that was the 1980s, one man had a vision- Ladies Wrestling in Neon Spandex.
A rag-tag group of people show up for the Audition, each with their own issues and personalities.
Can they learn to both get along and become pro-wrestlers before the Pilot is shot?
Or will the group be too disparate and eccentric to work things out in time?
To find out, watch the Show('s first Season).
More fun than watching the real GLOW. No offense, but the original Show is super-dated and bad. I like trash, but I have my limits. This highly-dramatized version of the Story is quite good. Alison Brie and company do a good job with all of their parts. They also manage to make the Show intentionally-campy with the fashion without making that the only joke. It would be easy to just go for the easy jokes, but they show restraint. Another big draw for some people like me is all of the Wrestlers that appear in small Roles. For example, Chavo Guerrero Jr was a Consultant for the Wrestling parts, which is the same role that his Uncle Mondo played on the original Show! It is a little weird how Carlito and Brodus Clay are playing Brothers (and Samoans!), but whatever. The Show is given enough time to 'breathe,' so all of the big moments feel earned. It's just a plain good Show. If you like Wrestling, you'll like it. If you like Comedy-Dramas, you'll like it. Start watching it already, especially since the new Season is already out...
A fun Show that also manages to be dramatic when the time is right. It's a strange pitch, but it works.
