Quick Reviews: Star Wars- The Last Jedi

Am I the Last person to see and/or review this?  No matter, because I did and I will...
In the wake of the last Film, the Rebels are on the run from the First Order.

If you ever wanted to see a Star Wars Film turn into what looks like a low-speed Police Pursuit, you're in luck...you weirdo.
Now woken up from his injuries, Finn teams up with the Internet's favorite new Character to find a way to save the slowly-drifting Rebel Armada.
Way the hell away from that, Rey wants to learn from Luke, who won't teach her after what happened with Kylo Ren.  All those poor younglings...
The Film also indulges in some trickery as they reveal the fate of Luke's Training Ground...in 3 different flashbacks...eventually.  Ugh.
Can the Rebels' new Leader- who was apparently just off-camera the whole of the last Film- help save the day...
...or will the First Order claim their final victory on Planet Not-Hoth?

To find out, watch the Film.
So is this the worst Star Wars Film?  No, that's still either of the Ewok Films, followed by The Phantom Menace.  With the bar set low enough, I can now critique the Film properly.  Rian Johnson was obviously hired based on the surprising success of Looper.  Lots of people love that Film.  I...don't like it nearly as much as you do.  For every good choice, there are at least two bad-to-iffy ones in there.  That's kind of what happens here.  His style didn't work for me here.  The Film constantly talks about 'hope,' but then goes out of its way to make you lose it.  I get that there's supposed to be an Arc there, but it just didn't do it for me.  Like with the new Star Trek Films, it takes away everyone's happy ending to just make more drama.  Luke becomes a recluse after losing his faith and failing to stop the rise of evil.  The Empire apparently didn't suffer much from losing all of their Leaders, most of their fleet AND a second Death Star.  Chewbacca is now stuck hanging out with Porgs!  The biggest thing about the Film is this- Johnson had to answer the questions posed by Abrams' Film.  That Film works because it is 99% nostalgia and 1% mystery that he won't bother to answer.  Every explanation given here is either lacking (we still don't know how they got Luke's lightsaber) or disappointing (the reveal of Rey's parents, the mystery of Snoke).  There are good moments here, but they are surrounded by moments that either look silly (like Leia's big moment) or are underwhelming (Finn vs. Phasma).  There's just so much wasted potential here for a Movie that is somehow worse at balancing the hope vs. despair idea than Justice League.  Let's see if Abrams can save what he started.  If nothing else, we get a nice tribute to Carrie Fisher courtesy of Asia...
After the success that was Force Awakens, we get a divisive and iffy Sequel.  This is clearly not the Empire that they were hoping for, but at least it isn't Attack of the Clones.
