'Immediate' Response: Asteroid City (2023)

I saw this last night, but I was busy afterwards.
I worked today, so I was busy.

So this is as 'immediate' as you were going to get.

Is Wes Anderson's latest his best?

The Good

* Everything you (hopefully) love about Wes Anderson is here.  His knack for Casting, Color, Style and feel.  With new Players like Carell and Hanks, it helps to keep things relatively fresh.

* The Plot is a bit hazy, but fun.  There's not lots of depth to the Plot itself, but every Character has a little something going on.

* The META Plot is odd, but thankfully not so much so that it distracts from the overall feel.

* The little bit of stop-motion used here is nice and a real stand-out in execution.

* Someone is still hiring Adrian Brody, so good for him.  I kid, I kid.

* Bryan Cranston as Not Alec Baldwin's Narrator is, at worst, a lateral move.  Depending on how you feel about Mr. Baldwin, it might be an upgrade.

The Bad

* Everything you (hopefully don't) hate about Wes Anderson is here.  He's not going to suddenly make a Marvel Film or do the next Mission: Impossible Film.

* Some people are arguably underused here.  For instance, Hanks is missing from alot of the beginning of the Film, while Jeff Goldblum's Credit is kind of a cheat.

* Is the Film's META Plot necessary?  Probably not.  Will it confuse first time viewers of his work?  Very much so.

To be honest, the Film has all of what you expect from Anderson, but with some new flourishes.  It's not enough to make the Film a whole new experience...but does he have to?

He's been making Films for, what, 25 years now?  Who is he trying to sway at this point?
