Immediate Response: Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)

At last, my Schedule freed up to see this one.

I avoided ALMOST all of the SPOILERS to boot.

I'll spare you them as well as I discuss...

The Good

* The Film has a big, fun Plot involving our Heroes, the fate of a whole Universe and some nice, personal stakes/drama to ground it.

* Reynolds gets lots of time to shine as Deadpool here, thanks to a Variant (or 3).  Beyond just the humor, Wade is given a personal redemption arc.

* Hugh Jackman is great in what may/may not be his final time as Wolverine.  He plays extra grumpy here, really commits to the physicality of it all and also gets a nice redemption arc.

* The choice of Villain is inspired as well, giving us a twisted, but also fun Character with no Fox baggage to weigh them down.

* The Film is chock full of in-jokes (like Liefeld's Just Feet), visual gags and just plain Fan Service.  I'm a fan, so no complaining.

* There are lots of great Cameos.  If you're interested, see the Film before any/all of them get SPOILed.

The Bad

* This is an R-Rated Film and it sure is a hard R.  So don't go in expecting 'light violence' or 'a little bit of swearing.'

* Some missing Characters is a disappointment.  I don't know if it was Scheduling or what.

* With all of the actual Cameos, it is a shame to see that some of them are just Stuntmen/Other Actors playing the part (like X-TLS Juggernaut or The Russian).

Was Kevin Nash really too busy?!?

In summary, the Film is big, funny, violent and great.  If you're up for this kind of hard-R Film and love/hate the Fox Films, this is for you!
