Kind-of-Sneaky Cover Art: Independence Day (1998)

As Tom Cruise hits it big at the Box Office again, let's see what happens when someone needs to market a Film to *be* like one of his.

Roland Emmerich's Independence Day was a big hit.
No question.

So why did Wal-Mart try to convince you that it was like a Tom Cruise Film?

Honest question- is that a real Review Quote?

Was the person just talking about the famous Story (and not a Film that wouldn't come out for 7 years)?
Weird quote regardless.

For comparison, this is why they put a flaming Earth on this.

In case you were wondering, it's the same once you get past the Slipcover.

FYI I tried to Google this one and I couldn't find anything.  Maybe I did the keyword search or just nobody remembers this weird thing.
---------------

Last note: I found a still shrink-wrapped DVD of The Lost World: Jurassic Park at this same Goodwill.
Is that original wrap?  Has this been preserved for 20 years?

Neat.
