As a Film, Jake Speed was hit and miss.
As a chance to give me another Poor Bastard, it's a winner!
In the Film, the villain- John Hurt- tries to escape to the Airport.
As Jake gets closer, he does the only natural thing- grab a random guy.
He monologues while holding the guy hostage. The guy probably doesn't even speak English, so this must be really confusing!
To put an end to the stand-off and show that 'evil is better,' Hurt cuts the guy's throat and runs away!
Jake takes it well.
On the plus side, the death is treated as a big thing (as random as it is) and acknowledged by our Hero.
The lesson- don't stay on the Tarmac. That or don't trust the British. Take your pick.
