After Girdler's lawsuit over film rights and his subsequent death in 1978, there was no big rush to make a sequel. Eventually someone did, although it had more than its share of plights.
They put together a big cast of nobodies to be attacked by the monster. These nobodies: Charlie Sheen, Laura Dern, John Rhys-Davies and George Clooney.
The bulk of the non-monster portion was filmed, but production problems and money issues put an end to the film. The film equipment was seized by the Hungarian government and everyone just moved on...until a work-print was discovered of it in 2007. Portions of it are on YouTube, but good luck trying to figure out what is going on. Work-print film squeezed into YouTube encoding does not make for good picture.
It's good to know that Clooney did a horror film before Return of the Killer Tomatoes, even if it never actually got finished. Stay tuned...

Mondo Trivia: Grizzly 2 (Part I)
After the surprise success of William Girdler's Grizzly, another film company saw dollar signs.
They took their own movie called Claws and rechristened Grizzly 2 in Canada and Mexico. Thankfully, copyright law kept it under its real title in America.
For the actual sequel to Grizzly (sort of), read Part 2. Stay tuned...
